Young Bruce Banner Will Reportedly Appear In ‘She-Hulk’ Disney+ Series

Following what has been a relatively quiet 2020 for Marvel Studios, production for various big-name projects is finally taking shape. One of these projects is the highly anticipated She-Hulk Disney+ series. Previously, Mark Ruffalo revealed that he was in negotiations to reprise his role as the Hulk/Bruce Banner in the show. However, as first reported by The Direct, it appears a young Bruce Banner will have a role to play in the series as well.
Per the initial report, Marvel Studios is currently casting an actor around the age of 10 for the role. This is an interesting piece of information as, due to intellectual property rights, Bruce Banner’s origin has not really been explored much in the MCU. The 2008 feature film The Incredible Hulk quickly ran through the Avenger’s origins before jumping into the Edward Norton-led thriller. With a 10-year old Bruce appearing She-Hulk, it could point to the strained relationship with his father being depicted.

Moreover, the throwback to their childhood could reveal the relationship between Bruce and his cousin Jennifer Walters. Portrayed by the recently-cast Tatiana Maslany, Walters receives an emergency blood transfusion from Banner to acquire a milder version of his Hulk condition. With the series serving as Walters’ introduction to the MCU, moviegoers will need a refresher on her relationship with her cousin Bruce. Additionally, Dead To Me director and screenwriter Kat Coiro will serve as executive producer and director for the upcoming series.
Despite the COVID-19 shutdown of productions, it was recently revealed that Marvel will release WanvdaVision on Disney+ in 2020. The studio will flesh out the next phase of its universe on both the big screen and the streaming platform. The She-Hulk series joins other upcoming projects like Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Ms. Marvel.
