‘She-Hulk’ Disney+ Series Casts ‘Orphan Black’ Star Tatiana Maslany In Titular Role
Following the recording-breaking 2019 release of Avengers: Endgame, the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows no signs of slowing down. Just days after tapping Dead To Me director Kat Coiro to helm the series, Marvel Studios has reportedly found its She-Hulk. According to Deadline, Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany joins the MCU as Jennifer Walters in the She-Hulk Disney+ show.
Best known for her work on the BBC series Orphan Black, Maslany owns a bevy of accolades including a Primetime Emmy Award and two Critics’ Choice Awards. Her efforts have also been honored with Golden Globe and SAG nominations. Fans may also recognize the actress from her appearances in Parks & Rec, The Vow, and Perry Mason. Moreover, the latest addition to the Marvel family touts roles in on-stage productions like Mary Page Marlowe and The Secret Garden. The actress joins Jonathan Majors as the latest stars to join the highest-grossing film franchise of all time in major roles.
Debuting in the pages of Marvel Comics in February 1980, She-Hulk’s real name is Jennifer Walters. She is Bruce Banner’s cousin and a longtime member of The Avengers. After an injury, she receives an emergency blood transfusion from Banner and acquired a milder version of his Hulk condition. However, Walters is also an accomplished lawyer and will reportedly handle superheroic law in the upcoming series. Additionally, Mark Ruffalo is in negotiations to reprise his MCU role in the series with Marvel looking to begin production in February 2021.
Despite the COVID-19 shutdown of productions, it was recently revealed that Marvel still plans to release WanvdaVision on Disney+ in 2020. The studio will flesh out the next phase of its universe on both the big screen and the streaming platform. Maslany’s She-Hulk series joins other upcoming projects like Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Ms. Marvel.
