Chloë Grace Moretz Signs On For Amazon’s ‘The Peripheral’ Series Adaptation

In addition to recently-announced films starring Awkwafina and John Cena, Variety reports Amazon Studios recently acquired the rights to the critically-acclaimed novel The Peripheral with the intention of turning it into a TV series. Additionally, Suspiria star Chloë Grace Moretz is on-board to lead the cast.

The 2014 science fiction mystery-thriller novel by William Gibson was picked up by Amazon last year. The upcoming series adaptation will hail from Jonathan Nolan (Westworld) and Lisa Joy (Burn Notice). The story follows its lead character Flynne, played by Moretz, and her brother, Burton, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. When Burton is hired for a security job that takes place in what he thinks is cyberspace, Flynne temporarily takes his place. However, the story takes a turn when she witnesses something that might have been murder.

Amazon Studios will produce the series in a collaboration with Warner Bros. television. Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy will executive produce the show with Scott B. Smith (A Simple Plan) on-board as showrunner. Additionally, Vincenzo Natali (Splice), Athena Wickham (Fallout), and Steven Hoban (Black Christmas) are on-board to produce as well.

After breakout roles in Hugo, Desperate Housewives, and The Amityville Horror, Moretz continues to define her young acting career with consistently impressive turns. Most recently, the actress appeared in Roseanne Liang’s Shadow in the Cloud and The Addams Family. Additionally, The Equalizer actress will star in Warner Bros.’ live-action/animated hybrid film Tom and Jerry.
