Robert De Niro & Machine Gun Kelly To Star In Randall Emmett’s ‘Wash Me In The River’

Fresh off an impressive outing in the Jamie Foxx-led Netflix feature Project Power, rapper Machine Gun Kelly is teaming up with more legendary actors. As first reported by Deadline, Colson “Machine Gun Kelly” Baker will star alongside Robert De Niro and the eccentric John Malkovich in an action-thriller titled Wash Me In The River.
The upcoming drama will be the second directing gig for filmmaker Randall Emmett. Best known for producing films like 2 Guns and The Irishman, Emmett’s directorial debut, Midnight in the Switchgrass, recently restarted production amidst the COVID-19 global pandemic. Written by Seed scribe Adam Taylor Barker, the film’s plot follows a recovering opioid addict seeking revenge on the drug dealers he feels are responsible for the death of his fiancée. However, two police officers are in pursuit, hoping to catch him before too much damage is done.

Additionally, Grammy nominated rapper Quavo is in talks to join the film’s cast as well. Randall Emmett will also serve as the film’s producer alongside George Furla (Escape Plan) and Tim Sullivan (2001 Maniacs). Moreover, Alex Eckert (Hard Kill), Nicholas D’Angelo, and Lydia Hull (Extraction) are on-board as the executive producers. In a statement to Deadline, Emmett expressed his excitement to direct the film’s unique cast.
“I couldn’t be more excited to work with Bob again after many collaborations, including The Irishman as a producer. I’m so grateful that he is supporting me as a filmmaker now. Colson was always my first choice to play the lead in the movie and John has been an icon of mine since childhood. Having them both attached with Bob is a dream come true.”
Along with his appearance in Project Power, MGK also starred in Netflix’s Bird Box. The multi-talented performer also appeared in the Mötley Crüe biopic The Dirt and Pete Davidson’s The King of Staten Island. Robert De Niro recently made the rounds during awards season for his role in The Irishman. He will next appear alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Killers of the Flower Moon.
