Releasing in 1999, Tarzan is the oldest of the quartet of films being reimagined. Based on the 1912 story Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the film has accrued quite a cult following online due to the growing popularity of the absolutely breathtaking soundtrack from Phil Collins. Featuring the voice talents of Anika Noni Rose, Bruno Campos, and Keith David, Princess and the Frog premiered in 2008 and earned over $270 million at the worldwide box office.
Tangled is one of the most expensive animated feature films ever made and one of the most expensive films of all time but went on to garner critical acclaim with three Academy Award nominations. However, among the four films featured in this report, Frozen is by far the most successful and popular. The blockbuster earned over $1.2 billion at the box office, spawned a sequel and a Broadway musical adaptation, and is the first Walt Disney Animation Studios film to win Best Animated Feature at the Oscars.
