One of the most marketable stars on the planet in 2022 is Idris Elba. Within the last year alone, the actor has starred in several notable projects while showing no signs of slowing down. Up next, as first reported by Variety, Elba is set to star in a new film in the works at Netflix titled Bang!.

Per the initial report, the project is a part of a multi-year deal between Netflix and Dark Horse Entertainment. David Leitch, whose latest film Bullet Train hits theaters this weekend, will direct the film. Matt Kindt and Zak Olkewicz will write the film with Elba, Leitch, and Kelly McCormick (Atomic Blonde) executive producing.

Based on the comic series of the same name by Matt Kindt and Wilfredo Torres, Bang! follows the series of events when a terrorist cult sets out to start the apocalypse with the release of several novels designed to brainwash the masses. However, the world’s most celebrated spy is sent to hunt and kill the author who wrote the novels in the first place.

Last year, Idris Elba recently delivered an action-packed and heartfelt performance in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Shortly after, the multi-talented actor appeared alongside Jonathan Majors,  Lakeith Stanfield, Delroy Lindo, and Regina King in Netflix’s The Harder They Fall. Additionally, Elba voiced Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Up next, Elba will seemingly go to war with a lion in the appropriately titled Beast.
