Megan Mullally, Jason Mantzoukas, & More Join The Cast Of ‘Percy Jackson’ Disney+ Series

One of the most anticipated new projects in the works for Disney+ is the long-awaited series adaptation of Rick Riordan’s best-selling series Percy Jackson. With production for the series finally beginning production this week in Vancouver, Variety is reporting that Jason Mantzoukas and Megan Mullally, among others, are joining the series in key roles.
Per the initial report, Mantzoukas will play Dionysus, a.k.a. Mr. D., the sarcastic leader of Camp Half-Blood. Moreover, Mullally will portray Alecto, a.k.a. Mrs. Dodds., Percy’s strict math teacher who, in actuality, is one of the three Furies that serve Hades. They join additional recent additions Virginia Kull (Big Little Lies), Glynn Turman (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), and Timm Sharp (Undeclared) who will recur on the series in guest-starring roles.

The new cast members join the previously announced leads Walker Scobell, Aryan Simhadri, and Leah Sava Jeffries who will portray Percy, Grover, and Annabeth, respectively. Author Rick Riordan and Jon Steinberg (The Rookie) penned the pilot for the series. James Bobin (The Muppets) is on board to direct. The aforementioned Steinberg will serve as the showrunner and executive producer alongside his collaborator Dan Shotz (See).
Jason Mantzoukas is a comedian best known for his memorial roles in TV shows like The Good Place, Parks & Rec, and The League. Most recently, the multihyphenate shines with a voice role as Rex Splode in Amazon Prime’s Invincible as well as a peculiar role in Hulu’s Pam & Tommy. Meanwhile, Megan Mullally is also a successful comedian, earning two Primetime Emmy Awards for her role in Will & Grace. This year, Mullally starred alongside Rowan Blanchard and Auliʻi Cravalho in Hulu’s coming-of-age film Crush.
