Dev Patel, Ralph Fiennes, & Sir Ben Kingsley Join Wes Anderson’s ‘The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar’

Fresh off the heels of news that Wes Anderson is updating Roald Dahl’s short story collection The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More for Netflix, the director is now working on filling the cast out. With Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch already confirmed, Dev Patel, Ralph Fiennes, and Sir Ben Kingsley will appear in the film as well, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Wes Anderson wrote the script and is directing the adaptation for Netflix. Production will reportedly begin this month in the United Kingdom. Having previously adapted Fantastic Mr. Fox, the project marks Wes Anderson’s continuous working relationship with the Roald Dahl estate.

Published in 1982, the collection features both fiction and non-fiction stories. The titular story follows Henry Sugar, who Cumberbatch will portray in the film. The plot follows Sugar as he steals a book that shows him how to predict the future and see through solid objects. However, the new power sends him on an adventure on which he soon faces mafia henchman, develops new identities with help of a makeup artist, and creates orphanages around the world.
Recently, Dev Patel wowed audiences alongside Alicia Vikander in David Lowery’s The Green Knight. Up next, the versatile performer will star in Craig Gillespie’s strip club murder drama Chippendales. Ralph Fiennes recently appears in the HBO Max Harry Potter anniversary special, recounting his time playing Lord Voldemort, as well as starring in The King’s Man. The actor will next star in The Menu, opposite Anya Taylor-Joy. Finally, Sir Ben Kingsley recently returned to the MCU as Trevor Slattery in Shang-Chi. Up next, the legend will appear alongside Anthony Mackie in Rupert Wyatt’s Desert Warrior.
