Anthony Mackie & Sir Ben Kingsley To Star In Rupert Wyatt’s ‘Desert Warrior’

Fresh off a critically acclaimed performance in Marvel’s Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie continues to add to his already impressive résumé. According to Deadline, the actor will topline a new feature from Rupert Wyatt alongside fellow Marvel alum Sir Ben Kingsley.
The stacked cast will also feature the talents of Aiysha Hart (Colette), Sharlto Copley (District 9), and Ghassan Massoud (Kingdom of Heaven). Moreover, Sami Bouajila (Earth and Blood), Lamis Ammar (Sirens), and Géza Röhrig (The Way of the Wind) will appear as well. Additionally, Rupert Wyatt will direct the feature based on a script he penned with Erica Beeney (Captive State), David Self (Road To Perdition), and Gary Ross (The Hunger Games).

The film, titled Desert Warrior, will be the first big blockbuster shot in Neom, a planned cross-border city in Saudi Arabia. Set in 7th century Arabia, the film follows feuding and disunited tribes at each other’s throats. Emperor Kisra, portrayed by Kingsley, is a fearsome ruler with a reputation for being despicably ruthless. When Princess Hind, portrayed by Hart, refuses to marry him, he becomes incensed. Her father, King Namun, portrayed by Massoud, must team with a mysterious vagabond, portrayed by Mackie, in an epic confrontation.
Anthony Mackie will next reprise his MCU role in the fourth Captain America movie for Marvel Studios. Additionally, the actor will star in a live-action Twisted Metal series. Moreover, Moreover, the actor will star alongside David Harbour in a new family adventure titled We Have A Ghost. Meanwhile, Sir Ben Kingsley recently returned to the MCU as Trevor Slattery in Shang-Chi. Up next, the legend will appear alongside Charlize Theron, Laurence Fishburne, and Sofia Wylie in Paul Feig’s The School for Good and Evil.
