Jason Momoa & Dave Bautista Buddy Cop Comedy Set At MGM

A buddy cop movie in the vein of Lethal Weapon is coming down the pipeline from two of the biggest stars in Hollywood. Literally. Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista have landed a studio to produce their buddy cop film that stemmed from an innocuous tweet from Bautista.
Back in August, Bautista tweeted out that he wanted to make a buddy cop movie with Jason Momoa. The tweet seemed to gain enough traction because not long after that, Momoa himself said the film was happening. Take a look at the tweet below.
Just going to throw this out into the atmosphere and see what happens. Here we go… Me and Momoa in a Lethal Weapon type buddy cop movie directed by David Leitch. Ok! There it is. Now we wait.😬

Momoa and Bautista will play brothers in a Lethal Weapon-esque scenario (i.e. one is the straight man and the other is the renegade). The film is set to shoot in Hawaii in the coming months.
The film will be distributed by MGM studios following a large bidding war between three other studios. It is currently being written by Jonathan Tropper, who writes for the Apple TV+ drama See, which stars the two actors. Tropper also penned the upcoming The Adam Project starring Ryan Reynolds and Mark Ruffalo. No word yet on who might be directing the film.
