Owen Wilson Joins Tiffany Haddish & Lakeith Stanfield In Disney’s ‘Haunted Mansion’

Fresh off an incredibly successful first season of Marvel’s Loki, Owen Wilson looks to continue his work relationship with Disney. As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Wilson is the latest big-name actor to join the cast of Disney’s upcoming Haunted Mansion remake.
Wilson joins previously cast Tiffany Haddish and Lakeith Stanfield in the cast. Dear White People director Justin Simien is on board to helm the feature with a script by Parks & Rec scribe Katie Dippold. Additionally, Aladdin producers Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich will serve as executive producers for Walt Disney Studios.

The Haunted Mansion film will reportedly be a new reimagining of the 2003 cult classic, starring Eddie Murphy. The new film will follow Gabbie, a single mother portrayed by Haddish, and her young son. After purchasing a New Orleans estate at an auction, the family discovers the home is full of ghosts. Gabbie decides to hire a mysterious widower, portrayed by Stanfield, who moonlights as a ghost guide tour, psychic, priest, and historian, to exorcise the spirit from her home. No word yet at this time on Owen Wilson’s character details.
Up next, Owen Wilson will be among the star-studded cast of Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch. Additionally, the actor will appear alongside Jennifer Lopez in the upcoming romantic comedy Marry Me as well. During the final moments of Loki episode 6, Wilson’s character Mobius speaks with the titular character, setting the stage for a reprisal in season two as well.
