Jennifer Lopez To Star In & Produce Niki Caro’s ‘The Mother’ For Netflix

After more than 30 years in show business, Jennifer Lopez is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. After a universally celebrated role in 2019’s Hustlers, Lopez continues to bolster her already stellar filmography. Up next, as first revealed by Deadline, the multitalented performer teams with Netflix for a new action movie titled The Mother.
Lopez is on-board to star in and produce the film via her Nuyorican Productions banner. Additionally, Mulan director Niki Caro is in talks to direct the upcoming feature film. The film’s original screenplay hails from Lovecraft Country creator Misha Green. However, more recent revisions come from Straight Outta Compton screenwriter Andrea Berloff. Additionally, Benny Medina (The Fighting Temptations), Elaine Goldsmith Thomas (Maid In Manhattan), and Roy Lee (The Lego Movie) will serve as the movie’s producers as well.

Jennifer Lopez will star in the Netflix picture as a deadly female assassin forced to come out of hiding. In order to protect her estranged daughter, she must rekindle a broken relationship and dispose of the dangerous men after them. Per the initial report, the film will feature thematic elements previously seen in Luc Besson’s The Professional.
The Billboard Music Award willer recently performed during the inauguration of President Joe Biden. Additionally, Lopez will next appear with Owen Wilson in Universal’s upcoming comedy Marry Me from She-Hulk director Kat Coiro. The versatile performer will also team with Netflix for the upcoming film The Cipher and appear alongside Josh Duhamel in the action-comedy Shotgun Wedding.
