Ewan McGregor & Mark Strong To Star In Doug Liman’s ‘Everest’

In 2021 alone, director Doug Liman has put out two films already. With Chaos Walking and Locked Down receiving mixed reviews from both fans and critics alike, the filmmaker is ready to begin work on his next endeavor. As first reported by Deadline, Liman’s new film will be titled Everest and touts an impressive cast.
Ewan McGregor, Sam Heughan (Outlander), and Mark Strong have been tapped to star in the upcoming thriller. Doug Liman will direct with a screenplay penned Up in the Air writer Sheldon Turner. HanWay Films will shop the sales and distribution rights during the upcoming Cannes Market.

Based on the best-selling novel Paths of Glory by Jeffrey Archer, Everest takes place in 1921. The plot focuses on real-life mountain climber George Mallory, portrayed by McGregor in the film. After being selected by the Royal Geographic Society’s Arthur Hinks, portrayed by Mark Strong, Mallory begins preparing to climb Mount Everest.
McGregor has been a notable name in entertainment news. His work as the villainous Black Mask in Birds of Prey alongside Margot Robbie earned critical acclaim. Additionally, his starring role in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series for Disney+ will return him to the Star Wars franchise for the first time in decades. Meanwhile, Mark Strong recently turned in memorable performances in films like Shazam! and Cruella. Up next, Strong will star alongside Eva Green in the Irish-Philippine psychological thriller Nocebo.
