‘PEN15’ Star Maya Erskine Joins The Cast Of ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’

With production well underway, Star Wars fans have been getting a little bit more information regarding the highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series. At the end of March, the official Star Wars Twitter account revealed what was presumed to be the full cast of the show with some recognizable names like Kumail Nanjiani and O’Shea Jackson Jr. However, as first reported by Deadline, the cast continues to grow with the recent addition of PEN15 star Maya Erskine.
Erksine joins Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christiansen, Joel Edgerton, and Bonnie Piesse, who are returning to Star Wars following pivotal roles in the prequels. Additionally, Sung Kang, Moses Ingram, Rupert Friend, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie join the previously announced Indira Varma in the ensemble cast as well.

Last January, the series stalled, reportedly due to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy’s displeasure with the show’s script. The scripts underwent a series of changes with screenwriter Joby Harold joining the writer’s room. Additionally, filmmaker Deborah Chow remains on board to helm the project as its director and showrunner.
Maya Erskine has been nominated for multiple WGA Awards and an Emmy for Hulu’s comedy series PEN15. Additionally, the actress touts roles in popular shows and films like Insecure and Scoob! as well. Up next, Erksine will star alongside Michael Cera in the upcoming picture Sacramento.
