‘Hamilton’s Anthony Ramos In Talks To Star In Next ‘Transformers’ Movie

The future of the Transformers film franchise is looking brighter than ever. Last year, Creed II director, Steven Caple Jr. was hired to direct the new film. Additionally, previous rumors pointed to Paramount and Hasbro looking for a “Tessa Thompson type” to lead the reboot’s cast. Now, per a new report from Collider, Hamilton star Anthony Ramos is in final negotiations to star in the upcoming film.
Obi-Wan Kenobi scribe Joby Harold is writing the script for the film. Additionally, the latest installment will reportedly revamp the franchise. Notably, Michael Bay, the man behind most of the franchise’s monetary success, is not attached to the project in any way. Next, Ramos will meet with studio executives to run chemistry tests with potential female co-leads. Sources close to the story reveal both Kiki Layne and Dominque Fishback are among those meeting for the role.

Transformers is the 13th highest-grossing film series of all time with a total of $4.8 billion. However, most of the movies in the canon have received mixed-to-negative reactions from fans and critics alike. In 2018, John Cena and Hailee Steinfeld starred in a spinoff film titled Bumblebee, which was received positively and breathed new life into the franchise.
Following a career-making role in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton, Anthony Ramos is a shining star on the rise. The actor touts recent roles in Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Trolls World Tour. Additionally, the multitalented performer actively releases new music with his debut album, The Good & the Bad, releasing in 2019. Up next, Ramos will lead the cast for the movie adaptation of the hit Broadway musical In The Heights, which will premiere on HBO Max on June 11th. Ramos will also appear alongside Naomi Scott in Amblin’s upcoming sci-fi film Distant.
