Danny Glover & Danny Pudi Join The Cast Of Indie Drama ‘American Dreamer’

Last month, it was revealed that movie legends Peter Dinklage and Shirley MacLaine were teaming up for a new indie drama titled American Dreamer. Now, with the film’s production recently beginning in Vancouver, Deadline reports that the cast is being bolstered with a slew of new additions including Danny Glover and Danny Pudi.
Moreover, Matt Dillon (There’s Something About Mary) and Michelle Mylett (Bad Blood) are also among the ensemble’s recent additions as well. American Dreamer hails from Academy Award nominee Theodore Melfi (Hidden Figures). Additionally, filmmaker Paul Dektor (Equal Means Equal) is on-board to direct the upcoming picture. In addition to his starring role, Peter Dinklage will produce the film alongside David Ginsberg (Get Low) and Kim Quinn (St. Vincent), who will also appear in the film as well.

Per the initial report, the film is based on a true story segment from the This American Life podcast. Its plot charts the life and times of Dr. Phil Loder, portrayed by Dinklage. Working as a low-level economics professor at Harvard University, Loder dreams of owning a home well out of his price range. However, a remarkable, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity comes from a lonely widow nearing the end of her life (MacLaine). After meeting Loder, she offers him her huge, hundred-acre estate for the mere pennies. However, Loder quickly comes to the realization this too-good-to-be-true offer may be just that. Glover will portray a private investigator in the film while Pudi will portray Dinklage’s boss.
One of the most well-known actors of all time, Danny Glover continues to turn out memorable roles whenever he sees fit. Recently, The Color Purple starred alongside Dwayne Johnson in Jumanji: The Next Level and in Joe Talbot’s The Last Black Man in San Francisco. Up next, Glover will lead the cast for the upcoming dark comedy Killing Winston Jones. Meanwhile, Danny Pudi’s claim to fame stems from his role in the hit series Community. Since then, the actor continues to build an extensive résumé for himself. Last appearing in the Disney+ original film Flora & Ulysses and the Apple TV+ series Mythic Quest, Pudi will next appear opposite Jon Hamm in the Corner Office.
