The DCEU is about to get shaken up with the impending release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max. However, the future of the franchise is beginning to take shape with production for The Flash beginning in London in April. Recently, director Andy Muschietti revealed that newcomer Sasha Calle will portray Supergirl in the highly-anticipated film. Additionally, as first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Kiersey Clemons is confirmed to appear in the film as The Flash’s longtime love interest Iris West.
The multitalented actress was originally supposed to first play Iris in 2017’s Justice League. However, following the departure of Zack Snyder, Joss Whedon left a lot of the footage featuring Clemons on the cutting room floor. Fortunately, Clemons’ Iris West has appeared in the Snyder Cut‘s trailers and will play a role in the film. The actress will co-star alongside Ezra Miller in the cast who is reprising his role as Barry Allen AKA The Flash. Previously, reports that Iris would be recast hit the web but it appears those plans have changed.

Created by Robert Kanigher and Carmine Infantino, Iris first appears in the pages of DC Comics in Showcase #4 in 1956. The character has long been a supporting character in Flash comics and Barry Allen’s love interest. Iris works as a reporter in Central City and eventually marries Barry Allen. Paula Marshall embodies Iris West in the 1990 CBS television series with Candice Patton playing her in The CW’s Arrowverse.
The aforementioned Andy Muschietti is helming the feature with a screenplay written by Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey). Additionally, Barbara Muschietti (It) and Michael Disco (Rampage) are on-board to produce the film as well. Moreover, Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton will play different versions of Batman in what will likely be a multiverse-sprawling adventure.
Kiersey Clemons’ breakout role occurred in the 2015 comedy-drama film Dope. Since then, the actress touts roles in films like Antebellum, Lady and the Tramp, and Scoob!. Additionally, the talented performer’s TV credits include New Girl, BoJack Horseman, and Transparent.
