Ezra Miller’s ‘The Flash’ Reportedly Recasting Iris West

It seems that Kiersey Clemons may be exiting the DC Universe. According to The Illuminerdi, The Flash is recasting Iris West.
DC’s The Flash film has suffered a number of delays as a result of several issues in pre-production, including a revolving door of directors. Currently, Andy Muschietti, director of IT, is attached to helm the film with Ezra Miller still set to star. However, a new report suggests that a recast Iris West will join him.
Clemons was initially cast in Zack Snyder’s Justice League; however, she never appeared beyond a few deleted scenes. But a new casting call seems to be looking for a fresh take on the character.

According to The Illuminerdi, a casting call is looking for, “an actress 21-25 years old to play a 23-year-old Iris West. The character is described as smart, bold, always with a cellphone in hand. She’s an energetic, and perhaps over-caffeinated, tenacious cub reporter for the Central Citizen. She can be a bit over the top, but despite her idiosyncrasies, there is something about her that draws people in. She is additionally described as having the fashion sense of Carrie Bradshaw and the smarts of Christiane Amanpour. The Central Citizen is described as a modern 21st-century style newspaper, which is perfect for the stylish, bright-eyed young reporter.” The character is listed as a supporting character.
For fans of the comics, this sounds like a perfect breakdown for West as she has often been portrayed like this in several iterations.
Previously, Clemons had stated she was still very much attached to play West, but it seems that has since changed. Given her version of the character has never appeared in canon, it would make the recasting very easy for the studio.
