Sasha Calle Lands Role Of Supergirl In ‘The Flash’

Superman’s cousin will be making her live-action debut in the DCEU. The Young and the Restless actress Sasha Calle will be donning the cape as Supergirl in The Flash.
After 425 auditions from different actresses, Calle gets the call to bring the woman of steel to the big screen. The Flash director Andy Muschietti revealed his choice in a zoom conference with Calle below:
Check out what Muschietti had to say about the casting:
“I saw more than four hundred auditions. The US, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia. The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role.”
The Colombian-American will be the third actress but the first Latina to play Supergirl in DC Comics history of film and comics. Helen Slater in 1984 and Melissa Benoist in her own tv series were the first two to don the cape. Calle was nominated for Outstanding Young performer at the Daytime Emmys in 2020.

Deadline reports that the actress will be making her way on set soon as the production sets up in the United Kingdom. It isn’t clear how large of a role the cousin of Superman will be playing, but the fact she’s needed on set this early one may be indicative of her importance.
The Flash arrives in theaters November 4, 2022.
