‘Big Hero 6’ Characters Reportedly Coming To The MCU

The future of the MCU is brighter than ever with a bevy of new projects in development. With new additions like Ironheart, Moon Knight, and Ms. Marvel getting their own shows, the MCU will look a lot different following the events of Avengers: Endgame. However, a new report reveals that some surprising characters are on their way to the MCU as well. As first reported by The DisInsider, characters from the Disney animated film Big Hero 6 will migrate over to the shared Marvel universe.
Per the initial report, it is unclear if all the characters will move into the live-action medium. However, Baymax and Hiro, the film’s main characters, are apparently a lock. The superhero team also consists of Hiro’s friends Go Go, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, and Fred. Additionally, a few projects the new heroes may show up in are Secret Invasion, Agents of Atlas, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Big Hero 6 is a 2014 animated feature produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Inspired by the Marvel comic by Man of Action, the film is Disney’s 54th animated film. Directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams, the film tells the story of Hiro Hamada. A young robotics prodigy who befriends Baymax, his late brother’s healthcare provider robot, and forms a superhero team to combat a masked villain. Moreover, the cast consists of voice performances by Scott Adsit, Ryan Potter, Damon Wayans Jr., Alan Tudyk, and Maya Rudolph. The film earned the Academy Award for Best Animated Film, brought in $657.8 million, and spawned a spinoff series on Disney XD. The film is also notable for its cameo appearance by Marvel legend Stan Lee.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe will look completely different during the franchise’s upcoming Phase 4. With a Fantastic Four reboot in the works, Marvel COO Kevin Feige also expects to bring the X-Men into the fold sooner or later. Additionally, the Disney+ series WandaVision teases the multiverse that is expected to expand during Doctor Strange 2 and Spider-Man 3.
