It appears the final pieces of the puzzle that is Disney’s Peter Pan & Wendy are coming together. A few weeks after standup comedian Jim Gaffigan joined the film as Mr. Smee, another pivotal supporting character has been confirmed. According to a report from The Illuminerdi, Iron Man 3 star Rebecca Hall is joining the ensemble cast as well.
Per the initial report, the actress will portray Mrs. Darling in the film. Mrs. Darling is the mother of Wendy and her character description points to her portrayal as empathetic and beautiful with a focus on Wendy attending boarding school. Hall will join other recent additions to the cast, including Jude Law as Captain Hook and Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell. Additionally, he will appear on-screen alongside the previously cast Alexander Molony & Ever Anderson, who will play Peter Pan and Wendy, respectively.
Peter Pan & Wendy is not the first attempt at creating a live-action version of the classic story. The first adaptation was the cult-classic Hook, which starred Robin Willaims and more recently, Hugh Jackman’s Pan. David Lowery, who directed Pete’s Dragon, is currently on board to helm the latest adaptation. Lowery co-wrote the script with Toby Halbrooks (A Ghost Story), with Jim Whitaker (A Wrinkle In Time) producing.
Rebecca Hall is a multiple-time Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Awards nominee. Her varying on-screen résumé includes roles in films like Frost/Nixon, The Town, and The Awakening. Up next, the actress will star in the highly anticipated Godzilla vs. Kong on HBO Max. Additionally, Hall will appear alongside Julianne Moore and Don Cheadle in a made-at-home anthology film titled With/In.
