Jared Leto To Star In Darren Aronfosky’s ‘Adrift’ For Blumhouse Productions

This week, Oscar winner Jared Leto will star alongside Denzel Washington and Rami Malek in HBO Max’s The Little Things. Additionally, the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman will reprise his role as the Joker in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. However, the multitalented performer is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down anytime soon. As first reported by Deadline, Leto is on-board to star in a new film in the works at Blumhouse Productions.
The film, titled Adrift, will be directed by critically acclaimed filmmaker Darren Aronofsky. The latest project will serve as a reunion between Leto and Aronofsky after previously working together on Requiem for a Dream. Adrift is reportedly based on a short story by The Ring screenwriter Koji Suzuki. Taking place within the dead calm of the open sea, the story follows a fishing boat after discovering an abandoned yacht. As a deckhand agrees to board the ship while it’s towed into the nearest port, he soon discovers why his colleagues refused to board the “ghost ship.”

In addition to a starring role, Jared Leto will serve as one of the film’s producers as well. Additionally, Jason Blum will executive produce the project via Blumhouse Productions. Emma Ludbrook (Morbius) and Carla Hacken (Demolition) are on-board to produce as well.
Following an Oscar victory for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, Jared Leto turned heads as The Joker in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Up next, Leto will star in Sony’s next big Marvel film Morbius. Additionally, the method actor has roles in Disney’s Tron reboot and Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated crime drama Gucci as well. Meanwhile, Darren Aronofsky is gearing up to helm A24’s The Whale starring Brendan Fraser.
