Tiffany Haddish To Star In MGM’s Adaptation Of Sci-Fi Novel ‘Landscape With Invisible Hand’

Over the last three years, comedian Tiffany Haddish has proven time and time again that she is a multi-talented and dependable leading lady. However, it appears the actress is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down and is actively looking to expand her résumé. As first reported by Deadline, Haddish is in final talks to star in MGM‘s live-action adaptation of National Book Award winner M.T. Anderson’s sci-fi novel Landscape with Invisible Hand.

Published in 2017, Landscape with Invisible Hand is set in the near future following an invasion of earth. An alien species called the Vuvv take earth over and introduce a wave of labor-saving technology. However, these groundbreaking inventions cause the entire planet’s job market and the global economy to utterly collapse. Amidst the chaos, a teenager and his girlfriend concoct a plan to make money by broadcasting their dating life to the alien overlords. However, as the relationship deteriorated, the couple must figure out how to break up without completely bankrupting their families.

MGM studios will produce and distribute the feature in collaboration with Annapurna Pictures and Brad Pitt‘s Plan B Entertainment. Additionally, Bad Education director Cory Finley is on-board to adapt the novel for the film’s screenplay. The filmmaker will direct Landscape with Invisible Hand as well.

Following breakout roles in comedies like Girl’s Trip, Night School, and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, Tiffany Haddish’s stock continues to rise. In 2019, her Netflix comedy special Black Mitzvah earned nominations at that year’s Emmy and Grammy ceremonies. Additionally, Haddish took the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for hosting Saturday Night Live.
