Kathryn Hahn Joins Will Ferrell & Paul Rudd In Apple TV’s ‘The Shrink Next Door’

Even before she turns in what is likely to be a head-turning performance in Marvel’s Disney+ series WandaVision, actress Kathryn Hahn continues to snag more and more impressive roles. As first reported by Deadline, the Parks & Rec star will next join Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd in the upcoming Apple TV+ limited series titled The Shrink Next Door.
The upcoming eight-episode series will be directed by Michael Showalter (The Lovebirds) with a script written by Georgia Pritchett (Veep). The series is inspired by true events that detail the strange relationship between a psychiatrist named Dr. Isaac “Ike” Herschkopf and New York State Senator Martin “Marty” Markowitz. Rudd will star as Dr. Herschkopf while Ferrell tackles the role of Senator Markowitz. The bizarre relationship takes a turn after Herschkopf begins to become rather intrusive on Markowitz’s life. Hahn will join the anticipated series as Phyllis, Marty’s younger sister. The story was first told in the shape of a podcast with the same name. Written by Joe Nocera, the podcast first debuted in May 2019 and ran for 7 episodes.

Rudd and Ferrell will both serve as the show’s executive producer alongside Jordana Mollick (The Lovebirds), Jessica Elbaum (Dead to Me), and Marshall Lewy (Blue State).
In addition to her role as Agnes in Marvel’s WandaVision, Kathryn Hahn lent her voice talents to the Oscar-winning film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Moreover, the actress continues her relationship with Apple TV after last appearing in the streaming service’s animated musical comedy series Central Park. Hahn also touts a critically acclaimed role alongside Mark Ruffalo in HBO’s I Know This Much Is True.
