Paul Rudd & Will Ferrell To Star In ‘The Shrink Next Door’ On AppleTV

Two of the biggest names in comedy will once again join forces. Following their hilarious collaborations for hit films like Anchorman and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, Paul Rudd and Will Ferrell are set to bring the laughs in a new limited series. As first reported by Deadline, they will co-star in an upcoming limited series heading for AppleTV+ titled The Shrink Next Door.
The upcoming eight-episode series will be directed by Michael Showalter (The Lovebirds) with a script written by Georgia Pritchett (Veep). The series is inspired by true events that detail the strange relationship between a psychiatrist named Dr. Isaac “Ike” Herschkopf and New York State Senator Martin “Marty” Markowitz. Rudd will star as Dr. Herschkopf while Ferrell tackles the role of Senator Markowitz. The bizarre relationship takes a turn after Herschkopf begins to become rather intrusive on Markowitz’s life.

The story was first told in the shape of a podcast with the same name. Written by Joe Nocera, the podcast first debuted in May 2019 and ran for 7 episodes.
Rudd is one of the most sought after performers in Hollywood. His role as Ant-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe reached a climb during the events of Avengers: Endgame. Following a starring role in Netflix’s Living With Yourself, the actor will star in the upcoming Ant-Man 3, directed by Peyton Reed. Moreover, Ferrell recently starred alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Downhill.
