‘Rick & Morty’ Scribe Jeff Loveness Tapped To Write ‘Ant Man 3’

Earlier today, it was revealed that the future slate of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be pushed back due to the CO-VID 19 pandemic. Despite the delay, Marvel Studios still looks to move forward with the development of its franchise. As first reported by THR, the studio has tapped Rick & Morty writer Jeff Loveness to pen the script for their upcoming third Ant-Man film.
Peyton Reed will once again return as director. He previously directed both 2015’s Ant-Man and its 2018 follow-up Ant-Man & The Wasp. Reed famously came on board as director of the first film following Edgar Wright’s departure from the film.
Loveness is best known for his work as writer and co-producer of Cartoon Network’s groundbreaking animated series Rick & Morty. Additionally, the screenwriter has worked on various episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live! and a few editions of the Primetime Emmy Awards. Loveness follows fellow Rick & Morty writer Jessica Gao in joining Marvel’s litany of accomplished screenwriters.

Additionally, franchise star Paul Rudd will return as Scott Lang. Evangeline Lilly and Michael Douglas are also on board for another stint as Hope Van Dyne and Hank Pym, respectively. At the time of this writing, Phase 4 of the MCU has films scheduled until 2022, with Ant-Man 3 currently not appearing on that list. However, with a screenwriter attached, it’s likely Marvel COO Kevin Feige looks to fast-track the film’s pre-production.
Finally, while details on the upcoming film remain scarce, it is rumored to introduce the Young Avengers to the MCU.
