Marvel Studios has found its lead writer in an Emmy Award winner for one of their upcoming Disney+ series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rick and Morty scribe Jessica Gao will be developing and leading the writing team for She-Hulk.
The hiring of Gao marks the first development for the She-Hulk series since the announcement at the D23 Fan Expo back in August. Gao’s work has been mostly on the animation side. She worked on Nickelodeon’s The Mighty B’s and Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty, winning an Emmy for her work on the episode Pickle Rick. Additionally, Gao wrote episodes of HBO’s hit series Silicon Valley.
She-Hulk will follow Jennifer Walters who is a successful attorney in the pages of Marvel Comics. When Walters is in need of an emergency blood transfusion her cousin Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk, comes to her aid, giving his blood to save her life. Walters then inherits Banner’s gamma radiation which transforms her into She-Hulk. However, unlike her cousin, Walters was able to keep her intelligence and personality following the transfusion.
