When Walters is in need of an emergency blood transfusion her cousin Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk, comes to her aid, giving his blood to save her life. Walters then inherits Banner’s gamma radiation which transforms her into She-Hulk. However, unlike her cousin, Walters was able to keep her intelligence and personality following the transfusion.
