Disney+ is the future of the Star Wars franchise. Following the success of season one of The Mandalorian, LucasFilm switched focus to the small screen with a number of live-action and animated projects in development. One of the first things announced for Disney+ was the Rogue One prequel series focusing on Cassian Andor. As first reported by Deadline, Morbius star Adria Arjona is on-board to co-star in the series alongside Diego Luna
Best known for her appearances in films like Netflix’s 6 Underground and Pacific Rim: Uprising, the multi-talented actress is highly sought after. Her filmography also includes roles in Narcos, True Detective, and Good Omens.
Additionally, the cast of the upcoming series will include Stellan Skarsgard and Kyle Soller (The Inheritance) as well. Moreover, iconic Star Wars characters like Grand Moff Tarkin, Mon Mothma, and Bail Organa will reportedly appear as well.
Rogue One debuted as the first Star Wars film to deviate from the franchise’s normal episodic nature. It featured a bevy of new characters and shed light on the rise of Darth Vader post-Revenge of the Sith. However, the film’s events ended with tragedy as the Empire crushed the opposition after they successfully completed their mission. The Diego Luna-led series will serve as a prequel to Rogue One. It will feature Luna reprising his role as Cassian Andor with Alan Tudyk returning as his droid K-2SO.
