There is currently no start date for production, as the series has undergone some creative shifts. Rogue One co-writer Tony Gilroy is now signed on as showrunner for the series taking over for Stephen Schiff. Gilroy, along with Dan Gilroy, Beau Willimon, and Schiff, was already on the writing team, but it seems he will now have a much more significant role in the series.
In addition to serving as showrunner Gilroy will also direct the pilot and possibly a second episode of the series. Similar to The Mandalorian, Disney wants an array of directors to work on the show.
