Apple Acquires Matthew Vaughn’s ‘Argylle’ Starring Henry Cavill, John Cena & More

Apple Studios continues to pump out memorable content with hit shows like Ted Lasso and Servant keeping fans coming back for more. However, the streamer is looking to challenge the likes of Netflix and HBO Max with some top-tier film content as well. As first reported by Deadline, Apple is in the final steps of acquiring a hot package directed by X-Men: First Class helmer Matthew Vaughn titled Argylle.
Per the initial report, Apple Original Films is currently finalizing the deal, valued at around $200 million. The film will reportedly premiere on Apple TV+. Vaughn will direct and produce the feature via his MARV production banner. Based on the upcoming spy novel with the same title by Ellie Conway, Argylle follows the world’s greatest spy as he charts the globe in a thrilling adventure. Additionally, Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman) is adapting the novel for the big screen.

Most notably, the film will feature an incredibly impressive ensemble. At the time of this writing, Matthew Vaughn has tapped Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, John Cena, and Samuel L. Jackson for the cast. Additionally, Grammy Award-winning singer Dua Lipa will make her acting debut in the film as well. She will also provide music for the title track and score.
In a statement, Matthew Vaughn expresses his excitement to produce the movie with Apple. “I’m thrilled to team with Apple and bring the most compelling spy thriller I’ve ever read to the only streaming service that can create a franchise of this scale and quality for global audiences to experience,” Vaughn said.
