Trinity Fatu Joins Emily Bett Rickards In ‘Queen of the Ring’ Film Adaptation

With films like A24’s The Iron Claw and TV shows like Heels, the curtain is peeling back a bit in the world of professional wrestling. Now, a female-led pro wrestling film is in the works with Arrow‘s Emily Bett Rickards starring in Queen of the Ring. Now, IMPACT Wrestling star Trinty Fatu (F.K.A. Naomi) has revealed via her Twitter that she is joining the cast of the film as well.
Current WWE Superstars Charlotte Flair and Liv Morgan as well as Yellowstone star Josh Lucas and The 100‘s Marie Avgeropoulous have been cast in the film as well. The feature is based on the 2009 book Queen of the Ring: Sex, Muscles, Diamonds, and the Making of an American Legend by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jeff Leen. Paradise City writer Ash Avildsen is on board to write and direct the feature with Aimee Schoof (Missing in America) and Isen Robbins (Tesla) executive producing. Legendary wrestling announcer Jim Ross is working behind the scenes on the film as well.

Queen of the Ring is a biography about the iconic Mildred Burke, who Rickards will portray in the film, the longest reigning champion of female wrestling. The story follows just how a petite midwesterner used her beauty and brawn to dominate America’s most masculine sport from the mid-1930s to the mid-1950s. Charlotte Flair and Liv Morgan will portray fellow wrestlers, June Byers and Clara Mortensen, respectively.
Trinity Fatu is a two-time WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion and is currently signed to IMPACT Wrestling. Before becoming a pro wrestler, Fatu danced for the basketball team the Orlando Magic as well as rapper Flo Rida. She’s also appeared as a cast member in WWE’s reality series Total Divas and appeared in the 2017 film The Marine 5: Battleground.
