AEW Star Maxwell Jacob Friedman Joins The Cast of A24’s ‘The Iron Claw’

Over the last few weeks, Twitter has been on fire with photos of Zac Efron on the set of A24’s upcoming professional wrestling drama The Iron Claw. Now, as first reported by Deadline, the film is getting some real-life pro wrestlers involved with the latest addition of All Elite Wrestling star Maxwell Jacob Friedman.
Friedman, also known as MJF, joins a rather impressive ensemble cast including Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, Holt McCallany, Maura Tierney, and Lily James. Sean Durkin will direct the feature with he penned himself.

Per the initial report, The Iron Claw will depict the rise, the fall, and the legacy of the Von Erich family. Originally from Texas, their actual surname is Adkisson. However, every member who has been in the wrestling business has used the ring name “Von Erich,” after the family patriarch, Fritz Von Erich. Professional wrestlers Kerry, Fritz, Kevin, Chris, Mike, and David all tout memorable careers in the business, with Kerry Von Erich winning major championships in the WWE. Unfortunately, all but Kevin Von Erich have tragically passed away. Notably, the Von Erich legacy lives on today with Marshall and Ross Von Erich competing in Major League Wrestling.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman is widely regarded as one of the brightest young stars in wrestling today. The charismatic performer has worked for All Elite Wrestling since the company’s inception and has worked programs with the likes of legendary performers like Chris Jericho and CM Punk. In fact, MJF was featured in the 2020 edition of The New York Times‘ annual Best Performances list for his duet of “Me and My Shadow” alongside Jericho. MJF will next challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship at the promotions Full Gear event later this month.
