Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, & More Join The Cast Of ‘The Brutalist’
Brady Corbet made his feature film directorial debut with 2015’s The Childhood of a Leader and won Best Debut Film and Best Director awards at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival. Since then, the filmmaker has been somewhat meticulous with his projects. Now, Corbet has assembled a star-studded cast for his next venture including Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones.
Joining Jones and Brody are Guy Pearce, Vanessa Kirby, Raffey Cassidy, Isaach De Bankolé, Alessandro Nivola, Stacy Martin, and Taylor Swift’s ex Joe Alwyn. Brady Corbet is directing the film with a script co-written by him and Mona Fastvold. The film has reportedly begun principal photography already in Hungary.
The film, titled The Brutalist, follows a visionary architect named László Toth (Brody) and chronicles about thirty years of his life. With his wife Erzsébet (Jones), Toth flees a war-torn Europe to start a new life in America. However, when a mysterious client (Pearce) offers them a huge sum for a project, their lives are changed forever.
Adrien Brody won the Academy Award for Best Actor for The Pianist at age 29, becoming the youngest actor to win in that category. Since then, Brody has starred in films like Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel, The French Dispatch, and the Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde. Next, Brody will star alongside Chris Evans and Ana de Armas in Apple TV’s Ghosted. Meanwhile, is an Academy Award nominee in her own right thanks to roles in films like The Theory of Everything. The actress also touts her own Star Wars film with Rogue One and portrays Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the biopic On the Basis of Sex. Up next, Jones joins fellow Star Wars alum John Boyega in Borderland.
