Jonathan Majors To Star In ‘Da Understudy’ For Amazon With Spike Lee In Talks To Direct

Jonathan Majors is one of the biggest and most profitable stars on the planet right now. And the multi-talented performer’s stock only continues to rise. Up next, as first reported by Deadline, Majors has signed the dotted line to star in a new film in the works at Amazon Studios titled Da Understudy.
Amazon will produce and distribute the film in collaboration with Will Smith’s production company Westbrook Studios. Smith will serve as the film’s executive producer alongside Majors via the latter’s Tall Street Productions banner. Notably, cinematic icon Spike Lee is currently in talks to board the feature as its director. Previously, Majors and Lee worked together in the director’s 2020 film Da 5 Bloods.

Da Understudy hails from the screenwriting trio Tom Hanada (Motherland), Zach Strauss (SMILF), and Tyler Cole (Nightcrawler). Per the initial report, the film will follow an understudy in a major Broadway production as he finds a dream that he is willing to literally kill for.
Jonathan Majors is a blockbuster standout right now thanks to his scene-stealing roles in Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania as well as Creed III. Up next, the actor will reprise his MCU role of Kang the Conqueror in various projects such as Loki season two and Avengers: Kang Dynasty. Additionally, Majors will portray NBA legend Dennis Rodman in Phil Lord & Chris Miller’s 48 Hours in Las Vegas.
