Shawn Levy In Talks To Direct A Secret ‘Star Wars’ Film

While Disney+ is the current home for any and all upcoming Star Wars shows, Lucasfilm apparently remains vigilant in producing films for the big screen. However, very little is known about the future of Star Wars films other than a few confirmed films in the works by Taika Waititi, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Patty Jenkins. Now, as first reported by Deadline, the mystery continues with Stranger Things director Shawn Levy now entering negotiations to direct a Star Wars movie as well.
The news comes at a strange time as Levy is incredibly busy at the moment. Not only is the filmmaker a part of the team charting a course for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, he will also helm Deadpool 3 which will officially bring Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine into the MCU. However, per the initial report, whatever dealings Levy has with Star Wars will wait until the completion of both of those projects.

Lucasfilm hasn’t released a Star Wars film in theaters since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. However, the franchise is alive and well on the Disney+ streaming services. This year alone has seen the release to hit shows like The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Andor. Up next for Star Wars is the third season of The Mandalorian and the Rosario Dawson-starring series Ahsoka.
