This last week saw the highly anticipated return of Saoirse Ronan to the big screen in the murder mystery See How They Run. Now, as first reported by Deadline, the Golden Globe Award-winning actress is lining up her next role in Steve McQueen’s next film titled Blitz.
Per the initial report, Steve McQueen will write, direct and produce the film via his Lammas Park production company. New Regency will collaborate with Apple Original Films to produce and distribute the film via the Apple TV+ streaming service. Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner (Frost/Nixon) are also on board to executive produce the film via Working Title Films.
Blitz will reportedly recall the lives and stories of Londoners during the Blitz of World War II. The Blitz was a German bombing campaign against the United Kingdom in 1940 and 1941. More than 40,000 civilians were killed by the utterly horrific series of bombings.
Saoirse Ronan has received various accolades, including a Golden Globe Award, in addition to nominations for four Academy Awards and five British Academy Film Awards. Her most famous roles include critically acclaimed turns in Greta Gerwig’s films Lady Bird and Little Women. Up next, the multitalented performer will star in director Garth Davis‘ adaptation of the 2018 novel Foe.
