Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, & More Join Chris Pratt In ‘Garfield’

The internet came close to breaking last year when it was revealed that Chris Pratt had been cast as the voice of Garfield in an upcoming animated film. Now, it appears the Guardians of the Galaxy star is getting some rather impressive company in the voice cast. As first reported by Deadline, Ted Lasso standout Hannah Waddingham and film legend Ving Rhames are among those joining the project.
Per the initial report, Waddingham, Rhames, SNL‘s Cecily Strong, and X-Men star Nicholas Hoult have joined the ranks of the animated feature. They all join the aforementioned Pratt and Samuel L. Jackson on the ever-growing call sheet.

David Reynolds (Finding Nemo) will write the new take on Garfield with Mark Dindal (The Emperor’s New Groove) directing. Moreover, Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson (Dolphine Tale) and Broderick Johnson (My Dog Skip) will serve as executive producers on behalf of Alcon Entertainment. Sony Pictures will distribute the film on February 16, 2024.
Hannah Waddingham is an Emmy, SAG, and Critic’s Choice award winner for her breakout role as Rebecca Welton in the Apple TV+ comedy series Ted Lasso. Additionally, the multi-hyphenate actress touts roles in HBO’s Game of Thrones and the movie adaptation of Les Misérables as well. Up next, Waddingham will appear in the highly anticipated Disney+ film Hocus Pocus 2. Meanwhile, after a nearly 40-year career in the business, Ving Rhames is one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood. Up next, Rhames will star alongside Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
