‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’ Adds ‘Borat’ Star Maria Bakalova

Fresh off her Oscar nomination for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Maria Bakalova will star in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The James Gunn-directed sequel will see the return of Marvel’s favorite A-Holes.
Her part is unknown at this time, but it’s described as a “key role” in the film. This news comes almost a week after Gunn’s The Suicide Squad star, Daniela Melchior, was cast in another undisclosed role. However, both of these roles were not the one Gunn teased on social media, so expect more surprise casting announcements leading up to the release.
Maria Bakalova burst onto the screen as Borat’s daughter in the comedy sequel. She was last seen in Netflix’s The Bubble, alongside her Guardians co-star, Karen Gillan. She will next be seen in A24’s Bodies Bodies Bodies and The Honeymoon.

Bakalova joins other recent additions to the cast Daniela Melchior, Will Poulter, who will portray Adam Warlock, and Peacemaker star Chukwudi Iwuji. The three newcomers join the ensemble cast featuring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, and Dave Bautista. James Gunn will write and direct the feature, which recently wrapped principal photography. Additionally, given the Guardians’ involvement in Thor: Love and Thunder, an appearance from Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is likely as well. Marvel COO Kevin Feige is on board as the film’s executive producer.
