Stephanie Beatriz Joins Anthony Mackie In Peacock’s ‘Twisted Metal’ Series

The upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular Twisted Metal video game series continues to pick up speed. As first reported by Deadline, Encanto star Stephanie Beatriz is joining the highly anticipated series in a major role.
Beatriz joins Anthony Mackie, who will portray John Doe in the series. Per the initial report, Beatriz will portray a new, original character Quiet, a badass car thief who acts solely on instinct and intuition. Cobra Kai writer Michael Jonathan Smith will pen the series and serve as executive producer alongside Will Arnett. Notably, the series is based on an original pitch by Deadpool scribes Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick, who are also on board to produce.

Twisted Metal will release on Peacock as a half-hour, action-comedy. Mackie’s John Doe is an outsider with a smart mouth suffering from memory loss. However, he receives an offer for a better chance at life. His goal is to embark on a journey to deliver a mysterious package. Doe must face savage thieves driving vehicles designed for mayhem to achieve his objective.
Best known for playing Detective Rosa Diaz in the NBC comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Stephanie Beatriz notably portrays Disney’s first Colombian main character Mirabel in the Oscar-winning film Encanto. Recently, Beatriz’s voice appeared in The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, Catwoman: Hunted, and Apple TV’s Central Park. The versatile performer also appeared on the big screen in Jon M. Chu‘s 2021 musical drama In the Heights, created by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Up next, Beatriz will star in the upcoming animated feature The Bob’s Burgers Movie.
