Will Ferrell and Emma Mackey are the latest to sign on to the star-studded cast of Barbie, joining a production tasked with bringing the iconic toy line to life.
Ferrell joins fellow recent additions of Alexandra Shipp, Simu Liu, Ariana Greenblatt, America Ferrera, and Kate McKinnon. Additionally, Ryan Gosling is on-board to portray Barbie’s longtime love interest, Ken. Details surrounding Ferrell’s character are unknown at this time.

The feature film is written by Greta Gerwig along with her partner Noah Baumbach. While the story will be based on the popular Mattel toy, plot details are relatively unknown. First launching in 1959, the Barbie franchise is widely popular and, in 2020, was valued at approximately $440 million.
