Zack Snyder sat down with Inverse and revealed some interesting information Snyder fans may want to hear. We know Army of Thieves releases this Friday with a special showing later today. Snyder’s been conquering the year of our Lord 2021, he’s released his Justice League in March, and he’s put out Army of the Dead in May. He’s moved on from DC and Warner Bros, and now he’s onto Netflix.
Snyder produced the aforementioned Army of Thieves which is a prequel to Army of the Dead. What comes after that though? Snyder has revealed the title of the sequel film will be Planet of the Dead. This could be a play on Planet of the Apes or Planet of the Vampires. One is an iconic franchise that has been rebooted, and a great trilogy by Matt Reeves, the other is a cult classic. Either way, Snyder seems about ready to continue the momentum of his Army of the Dead universe.
Snyder is also working on Rebel Moon. We have artwork, but that’s about it. In the interview, he states, “We’re just plugging away. It’s so huge and so crazy but really exciting, and I’m super excited as we get closer to sharing some art and casting because it’s all starting to come together.” Which is a good sign. Hopefully, we hear something soon.
He also mentions the Twilight of the Gods show he’s developing for Netflix. Which is seemingly were part of the idea for Army of the Dead comes from. Twilight of the Gods is essentially Ragnarok or the apocalypse. Zack says that Planet of the Dead will be “Ragnarok for the characters we saw in Army of the Dead.” There was a lot going on in the first film, aliens, zombies, paradoxes, time loops, so you may have missed the Norse mythology references. So what will we see in Planet of the Dead? We should be expecting insanity. Army of Thieves will be streaming on Netflix on October 29th!
