The future of the MCU continues to grow and develop and new and exciting ways. With a giant focus on diversity in their franchise, new heroes like Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight will soon take the forefront. Additionally, Marvel will soon bring Riri Williams AKA Ironheart to the MCU in her own Disney+ series as well. However, during a conversation with ComicBook.com, Marvel COO Kevin Feige reveals that the character will make her first appearance in the highly anticipated Black Panther sequel.
“We’re shooting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, right now, and the character of Riri Williams, you will meet in Black Panther 2 first,” Feige said in an interview promoting Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. “She started shooting, I think, this week before her Ironheart series.”
Created by Brian Michael Bendis and designed by Mike Deodato, Riri Williams first appeared in Invincible Iron Man Vol. 2 #7. Riri Williams is a 15-year-old engineering student living in Chicago. A certified super-genius, she attends the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Williams designs a suit of armor similar to the Iron Man Armor using material stolen from campus. Tony Stark hears of Riri’s work and decides to endorse her decision to become a superheroine.
Dominique Thorne joins another recent addition Michaela Coel in the film’s cast. Additionally, returning stars Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Angela Bassett in the film. Additionally, she joins fellow MCU newcomer Narcos: Mexico star Tenoch Huerta, who is rumored to portray Namor in the film.
lack Panther 2 will release on May 6, 2022.
