It seems a fan-favorite character from the MCU will be returning in Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings. According to insider Daniel Richtman, Ben Kingsley is set to return as Trevor Slattery in the upcoming blockbuster.
It was originally promoted that Kingsley would play the Mandarin in Iron Man 3 opposite Robert Downey Jr. However, during the film, it was revealed that his character was just an actor masquerading as the villain. He was ultimately sent to prison, but it was explained in the All Hail the King short that he was abducted by the Ten Rings and the real Mandarin.
Recently, images from Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings surfaced online that seemed to feature a character that bared a striking resemblance to Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery. But until now, that was all speculation. Based on this new report it seems the character will return in some form during the film. This makes Kingsley’s Slattery the third MCU character to cameo in the film as it was previously revealed both Abomination and Benedict Wong’s Wong will appear.
