Donnie Yen Joins Keanu Reeves In ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’

Many movie fans believe Keanu Reeves delivers some of the best work of his career in the John Wick movies. Last year, it was revealed that the John Wick trilogy was expected to continue for two more installments with Reeves reprising his role. Now, as first reported by Deadline, the enigmatic performer will be joined in the cast by Mulan star Donnie Yen.
Yen will also join the recently cast Rina Sawayama, who is making her feature film debut in the picture. Yen will reportedly be playing a friend and ally from John Wick’s past life who just happens to share a bevy of the same enemies.

Chad Stahelski, who helmed the first three films, will return to direct John Wick: Chapter 4. Additionally, the script hails from John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum scribe Shay Hatten and Michael Finch (Hitman: Agent 47). In a statement accompanying the initial report, Stahelski says “we are very lucky to have Donnie Yen join the franchise. I am looking forward to working with him in this exciting new role.”
Yen is one of Hong Kong’s top action stars. His charisma mixed with a vast knowledge of Tai Chi, Boxing, Jeet Kune Do, and Karate have made him a hot commodity following roles in Rogue One and Ip Man. Most recently, Yen portrayed Commander Tung in Disney’s live-action Mulan. Up next, the star will lead the cast for a live-action adaptation of the video game Sleeping Dogs.
