Vin Diesel To Star In Universal’s Live-Action ‘Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots’ Movie

One of the most profitable action stars of all time, Vin Diesel is showing no signs of slowing down, following a memorable turn in the superhero film Bloodshot, the actor/singer is gearing up to lead a new franchise. As first reported by Deadline, Diesel is in talks to lead the cast for a live-action film based on the popular Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots toyline.
The film will be produced by Universal Pictures in collaboration with Mattel Films. Additionally, Diesel will executive produce the film alongside Samantha Vincent (Fast Five) via his One Race Films production banner. Rampage scribe Ryan Engle penned the film’s screenplay with the search for a director still ongoing. In a statement accompanying the initial report, Diesel talks about his excitement to bring the project to life.
“To take the classic Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em game, with Mattel as my partner, and align it with the kind of world building, franchise making success we have had with Universal, is truly exciting,” said Vin Diesel.

Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots is a two-player action toy and game designed by Marvin Glass and Associates. It features two dueling robot boxers, Red Rocker and Blue Bomber. Mechanically manipulated by the players, the game is won when one player knocks the head off of the opponent. The game has been adapted into digital versions available on Playstation and Nintendo consoles as well.
After more than a year of waiting, fans can finally see Vin Diesel reprise his role of Dominic Toretto alongside Helen Mirren and John Cena in F9. Additionally, the actor is likely to star in the upcoming sequel to Bloodshot as well. The actor’s busy schedule also includes upcoming roles in the Avatar sequels, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3. In his free time, Diesel manages to release pop music as well with hits like “Feel Like I Do” and “Days Are Gone” dropping in 2020.
