RUMOR: ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol. 3’ Set For 2023 Release

The long journey to James Gunn’s third installment in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise just might have an end in sight. A new rumor from scooper Charles Murphy reveals Marvel Studios will to release the film on February 23, 2023.

Heard another date for Vol. 3. It's based off old info, so it's possible it already changed. I'm not going to put it on the list at this point because people go nuts over that, but it sort of lines up with Karen's comments the other day, so I figured I would share it.

As Murphy mentions, this rumor is to be taken with a grain of salt. As Marvel fans know from the last few years, nothing is concrete until it is officially announced.

The film was originally slated to release in May 2020. However, following the firing of James Gunn from Marvel Studios amid the resurfacing of inappropriate tweets, it was put on the shelf indefinitely. Since then, Gunn’s relationship with Disney has been mended. Unfortunately, his time off gave him the chance to take on the task of writing and directing The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros.

A 2023 release will give the director the chance to bring the trilogy to a fitting close. Gunn revealed the film’s script is complete last year.

Gunn has revealed that The Suicide Squad is his priority right now and production for the next Guardians film will begin once that film is complete. Until then, fans will have to settle for the bevy of MCU shows and films coming to the big screen and Disney+ streaming service.  Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 will bring back the gang for one more adventure in space. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, the whereabouts, and morale of the team are unknown.
