Natalie Portman To Star In HBO’s ‘The Days Of Abandonment’ Adaptation

As one of the most recognizable and beloved actresses in modern Hollywood, Natalie Portman can always be counted on to deliver a quality performance. Ahead of her heroic return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Portman continues to fill out her slate of upcoming projects. As first reported by Deadline, the Oscar winner will headline a new film in the works at HBO Films.
The picture is based author on Elena Ferrante’s best-selling novel The Days of Abandonment. The story follows a woman named Tess, portrayed by Portman in the movie. After abandoning her own dreams and ambition for her family, Tess is left by her husband. The abandonment turns Tess’s life upside down. Faced with tough decisions, the tale tells the story of a woman confronting a crisis while facing the norms of motherhood and femininity.

The film hails from Maggie Betts (Novitiate), who will write and direct. Additionally, Portman will serve as an executive producer via her MountainA Films production banner. She joins the aforementioned Elena Ferrante, Celine Rattray (Girl Most Likely), and Domenico Procacci (The Last Kiss).
In addition to this upcoming project, Natalie Portman will reprise her role as Jane Foster in Thor: Love and Thunder. Director Taika Waititi confirms the actress will take on the mantle of Thor in the film as the comic book counterpart of her character has done in the past. Additionally, Portman will make her debut as a lead in a TV series alongside Lupita Nyong’o in Apple TV’s Lady in the Lake.
