Matt Damon Rumored To Appear In ‘Thor: Love & Thunder’

Following a mostly silent 2020, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is looking to recover in a big way with several installments going into production in 2021. One of those projects is Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder. A new rumor, stemming from a bevy of Australian news outlets, suggests Matt Damon is joining the film’s ensemble cast. Moreover, insider Daniel Richtman confirms Damon’s rumored involvement as well.

While other names like Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, and Pom Klementieff are rumored to reprise their MCU roles as the Guardians of the Galaxy in the fourth Thor movie, Matt Damon’s inclusion feels a bit more bizarre. The Academy Award-winner did appear in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. However, his role was that of an Asgardian actor portraying Loki during a play depicting the events of Thor: The Dark World. As is always the case with Marvel news, Take the rumor with a grain of salt until Marvel Studios confirms.

Ranked among Forbes‘ most bankable stars, Matt Damon is best known for his starring role in the billion-dollar Bourne films series. The actor touts a Best Original Screenplay Oscar win alongside Ben Affleck for Good Will Hunting. Moreover, Damon also earned the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for his role in The Martian. Up next, Damon will star alongside Adam Driver in Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel.

The fourth film in the Thor franchise sees the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. Additionally, Waititi confirms the actress will also take on the mantle of Thor within the events of the film at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Chris Hemsworth will also return as the Son of Odin. Additionally, Damon’s Ford v. Ferrari co-star Christian Bale will play Gorr the God Butcher in the film. Moreover, the film will reportedly feature the aforementioned Guardians of the Galaxy, Korg, and Jaimie Alexander’s Lady Sif as well.

Additionally, the Loki Disney+ series will release sometime between now and the film’s release. However, it is unknown whether or not the series will connect with Thor: Love and Thunder.
