Florence Pugh To Star In Universal Pictures’ Murder Mystery ‘The Maid’

Following Oscar and Golden Globe consideration for her scene-stealing role in Little Women, Florence Pugh continues with an upward trajectory in her blossoming career. Up next, as first reported by Deadline, the actress will star in Universal’s upcoming murder mystery titled The Maid.
The film will be an adaptation of the incoming novel with the same name set for publication in 2022. Penned by author Nita Prose, the story reportedly blends elements from famous works by the likes of Gail Honeyman and Agatha Christie. Set within the Regency Grand Hotel, the story follows a maid named Molly. When she’s not leaving every room in pristine condition, she is getting to know each and every guests’ most intimate secrets. Moreover, the film explores Molly’s descent into an unknown murderous underbelly of her hotel. Furthermore, the novel hopes to tell a relevant story that highlights the strengths of people’s differences.

Universal acquired the rights to the novel in what was a hotly-contested battle. Pugh will star as Molly as well as serve as one of the movie’s producers. Additionally, the aforementioned Nita Prose will executive produce the film alongside Josh McLaughlin (Harriet) and Chris Goldberg (Gone Girl).
The latest role continues Pugh’s rise to success. Making a splash in the pro wrestling picture Wrestling With My Family, the Midsommar star was quickly scooped up my Marvel Studios. The actress will debut as Yelena Belova in Black Widow before reprising the role in the Disney+ series Hawkeye. Pugh is poised to take on the Black Widow moniker in future MCU installments. Additionally, Pugh will star alongside Harry Styles and Chris Pine in Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling.
