Sandra Oh & Awkwafina To Play Sisters In Untitled Netflix Comedy From Gloria Sanchez Productions

With roles in Marvel’s Shang Chi and Disney’s The Little Mermaid lined up, Awkwafina continues to bolster her résumé with impressive outings. As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the Jumanji: The Next Level star is set to appear alongside Killing Eve star Sandra Oh for a new comedy in the works at Netflix.
Per the initial report, the two versatile performers will portray sisters in the feature. The story will follow a lonely recluse who has her world turned upside down when her trainwreck of a sister attempts to mend their relationship. To bring the sisterhood back together, they attempt to fulfill a lifelong dream of the recluse, getting her to compete on her favorite game show.

The comedy will be produced in a collaboration between Netflix and Will Ferrell‘s Gloria Sanchez Productions banner. Additionally, Ferrell will serve as one of the film’s executive producers alongside Awkwafina and Oh. Moreover, Jessica Elbaum (Hustlers), Itay Reiss (Like A Boss), and Maggie Haskins (Bootstrapped) will produce as well. The currently-untitled picture features a script penned by Workaholics writer Jen D’Angelo.
The news will further establish Sandra Oh’s relationship with Netflix. In addition to the new project, Oh will star in and produce the upcoming dramedy series The Chair. Additionally, the Grey’s Anatomy actress is tapped to reprise her award-winning role in the upcoming fourth season of Killing Eve. Meanwhile, Awkwafina will next star alongside her Jumanji co-star Karen Gillan in Amazon’s Shelly. In addition, the Golden Globe winner will appear in Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon as well.
